The Foundation of 5e Gallery CELEBRATES THE BIRTH & LIFE OF DJ SICARI
Tuesday December 27, 2011
The Old Miami

ON THIS NITE WE WILL CELEBRATE THE BIRTH & LIFE OF DJ SICARI FOUNDER OF 5E GALLERY!

“Hardcore Detroit Advocate and Supporter, Bboy, DJ, Gallery Owner, Community activist.. Too many hats to name definitely leaving my mark in The D”

Born in Detroit and raised in San Diego, Sicari was introduced to Hip-Hop by West Coast Rock Steady crew Pioneer Dj Charlie Rock. He first expressed his love for the culture as a b-boy in Cali. Sicari moved back to Detroit in 94, landed a job DANCING IN THE WINDOW of Maurice Malone’s world famous DETROIT Hip-Hop Shop on 7 mile, and later became a member Hardcore Detroit B-BOY Crew.

Sicari later took an interest in the dj element of Hip-Hop. Starting in college @ KENTUCKY STATE, he has been constructing dj sets and competing in dj battles since 1996. Winning his first major dj battle (Hawaii) in 1999 and spinning b-boy battles, the now turntablist Sicari has proven to be a master of the two elements.

DJ SICARI IS THE NEWEST MEMBER OF PIONEER HIP HOP GROUP “5 ELA”. HE’S ALSO THE TURNTABLIST FOR UNDERGROUND RESISTENCE JAZZ TECHNO GROUP “TIMELINE” AS WELL AS “THE NICK SPEED ORCHESTRA”.

IN 2008 DJ SICARI CREATED 5E Gallery (2661 Michigan ave. Detroit, Mi). A space he acquired for Detroit music heads of all facets to utilize as an outlet to spread awareness & love for Hip-Hop art and culture.

5E GALLERY IS A PART OF THE DETROIT FUTURE COLLECTIVE w THE 5E GALLERY & THE HERU BIZ YOUTH PROGRAM. AS A YOUTH LEADER DJ SICARI IS LOVED AND ADMIRED BY THE ENTIRE ARTS COMMUNITY.

IN 2009 HE CO-FOUNDED #THE FOUNDATION WITH 5E GALLERY CO-OWNER & LIFE PARTNER PIPER CARTER ALONG WITH LEGENDARY DETROIT EMCEES INVINCIBLE & MZ KORONA, IN ORDER TO SUPPORT, NURTURE, & BUILD THE WOMEN IN HIP HOP MOVEMENT IN DETROIT.

Understand you are hosting the Tale of 2cities film exhibit (Chicago Urban Art Society hosting the same exhibit in Chicago) but don’t see any info on your site. Would love to know the details and see this promoted here in Detroit.

    Thanks!
